Wealthy = Money or Wellness?

In a new survey from Charles Schwab Financial, more people define their version of being “wealthy” as having abundant health and well-being than having a lot of money.

When asked to characterize what being “wealthy” means to them, respondents overall mentioned their well-being (40%) more often than money (32%) and assets (26%). In 2017, the top response to what wealth means was money (27%).

This new perspective is being called “Modern Wealth” – with nearly two-thirds (62%), saying that enjoying healthy relationships with their loved ones better describes what wealth means, and 70% saying that wealth is about “not having to stress over money” – versus having more of it.

Surveys like this come at the perfect time, when so many people are looking for “meaning and purpose” in their lives – and at the same time also looking for “time freedom” and a healthier work/life balance. This is what we’re doing at Amare – developing products that improve health (mentally and physically) – providing a business opportunity that emphasizes flexibility and entrepreneurship – and encouraging people to build meaningful businesses around helping others through personal connections.

Flavonoids Prevent Dementia?

In a very cool new study, researchers from Columbia University showed that a low intake of plant compounds called flavanols can lead to age-related memory loss – while supplementation with higher levels can not only slow memory loss, but can also improve overall memory performance (by an average of 16%)!

Flavonoids and other polyphenols are found in foods such as tea, coffee, red wine, chocolate, berries (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries), citrus fruits, pomegranates, apples, grapes, pine bark, palm fruit, and others. This is why you will find so many polyphenol extracts across the range of Amare products (MentaFocus, Mentabiotics, Energy+, Edge, SuperFood, Sunrise, and others).

One of the reasons that flavonoids/polyphenols are so beneficial for brain function is because they have benefits across the entire Gut-Brain-Axis. They not only support the brain directly with superior blood flow, antioxidant protection, and anti-inflammatory benefits, but they also support the growth of “good bacteria” in the gut (microbiome), maintain gut integrity (e.g. reduce “leaky gut“), and enhance gut-brain signaling (an effect that Amare is pioneering with global patents filed on specific flavonoid blends that are specific for Gut-Brain-Axis optimization).

Be sure to protect your aging brain by drinking your tea/coffee, eating your berries, and taking your Gut-Brain-Axis supplements!

“Smart” Drugs Make You Dumber?

In an amazing new study, researchers from the University of Melbourne and University of Cambridge found that 3 different “smart drugs” might increase the “intensity” of focus and effort, but that they actually REDUCE productivity and the quality of solving complex problems.

The three drugs administered were methylphenidate (Ritalin/Concerta), modafinil (Provigil), and dextroamphetamine (Adderall).

Imagine that – taking a dangerous and addictive stimulant that cranks up your brain intensity – but results in a measurable DECREASE in mental performance!?!? The effect is big enough to take someone who is normally a “high-performer” and reduce their productivity to that of an “average” or “below-average” performer. 🤯

What if you could instead take a natural nootropic (brain booster) that is not only safe, but is also MORE effective? The right natural ingredients can not only improve focus and motivation, but can also enhance mood, sleep quality, energy levels, stress resilience, cognitive performance and problem-solving.

The most effective options are those that work across the entire Gut-Brain-Axis by coordinating and balancing neurotransmitters (e.g. serotonin, melatonin, dopamine, GABA, norepinephrine), stress hormones (cortisol and inflammatory cytokines), and metabolic hormones (insulin, thyroid, GLP-1) simultaneously. These options include research-proven ingredients such as saffron lepticrosalides, turmeric curcuminoids, pomegranate punicalagins, apple phenols, grape seed flavanols, pine bark OPCs, amino acids (theanine, tyrosine, glycine), kanna mesembrine, rafuma quercetin glycosides, palm fruit shikimic acids, and so many others.

At Amare, we recently presented a completely new “next generation” approach to nootropics at the Institute for Functional Medicine Annual International Conference – where we showed that a patent-pending blend of nutrients could improve microbiome balance, enhance psychological mood state, and sharpen cognitive performance and problem-solving. So – not only do your perform better mentally, you also feel better emotionally – because we are improving the efficiency of your entire Gut-Brain-Axis (look for more details about this revolutionary new approach to brain-boosting in the coming months)…

Microbiome Predicts Early Alzheimer’s

Very interesting new article in the journal Science Translational Medicine about how the composition of the gut microbiome can be used as an early predictor of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Here is a link to the article = https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/scitranslmed.abo2984

The article is important because it showed that individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have an altered gut microbiome, and these changes occur early in the disease course, and also that the gut microbiomes of people with preclinical AD (indicated by altered brain amyloid and tau proteins) had a different composition from that of healthy individuals.

My Personal Supplement Regimen?

I’m often asked, “What supplements do YOU take?” – so I thought I’d tell ya…

Here is a list of what I take – and when – with a companion video explaining why in some detail.

Please let me know any questions – you can type them in the comments section below – or ask me for a video answer via AnyQuestion.

Morning (when I first wake up – I feed the dogs and mix up “my version” of Happy Juice) = Edge + Mentabiotics + SeedFiber + SuperFood (the dogs also get a few Amare supplements)…

I mix that in a tall 16-ounce glass of filtered water and use it to wash down my other morning supplements = MentaSync, MentaFocus, MentaHeart, Mood+, Ignite for Him

Afternoon = I usually don’t eat for several hours after waking up – but when I do, I also take VitaGBX. I also like to exercise around mid-day, so if I’m running or riding my bike, I will fill my bottles with Energy and Electro to support endurance. If I’m at the gym lifting weights, then I sip on some combination of GBX Protein/Origin/Fit20 to enhance muscle building. In the later afternoon – when some people are slowing down, I like to take a sachet of Kids Mood+ to help wake up my brain for zoom calls. On days where I have a particularly intense workout, I take MentaFocus and MentaHeart right before my workout – so they “kick in” right around 30-45min to amplify both mental and physical performance for the second half of my workout (when I need it most) – and you could add Nitro Xtreme to this if you really wanted to amp up your performance!

Evening – another dose of VitaGBX with dinner.

Night = right before bed, I brush my teeth and take Sleep+ (every night), HempGBX+ (sometimes) and Relief+ (sometimes). The “sometimes” is because I use these as “post exercise recovery” supplements to help control inflammation and enhance tissue repair – so I only take them on nights when I have had a very hard workout earlier in the day. I also take my omegas (either OmMega or Sunset) and probiotics (either Probiotics or Restore) at night – watch the video to see why I “cycle” between them. The final product that I swear by before bed is Digestive – I haven’t had night-time heartburn for YEARS since starting this one.

That is quite a few supplements – and I hope this list and the video help you understand why I take what I do – and how you can determine the right supplements for your specific situation?
