  • Dear Dr. Shawn,
I’m sure you are a super busy person these days but I thought I would take the comment space to ask for some advice on supplements for my daughter Presley. Presley is 5 years old. She had open heart surgery when she was 2 months old and she also has Down Syndrome. I began giving her Amare products around 2 years old when she started consuming a solid diet. Fundamentals, kids mood, vitamins crushed and super foods and seed fibber. All of these have their moments of consistency because we still struggle with eating and getting enough fluids. Presley at age five is struggling to grow at 36’ and only 29 lbs. Thyroid problems and Gi upset. We feel like our journey with doctors feels like a Merry Go Round. We have seen them all and no real answers. I hear many responses such as she is small because she has DS or her blood work is off that’s typical because she has DS, I disagree and I feel that so much of her struggles are tied to gut issues. We have also mold and dust mite allergies and have had chronic sinus infections this year. Over 30 days of missed school. My next step is to contact a homeopathic doctor out of Washington state who focuses on the gut and supplements, vitamin absorption and so on but first I thought I would touch base with you to see if you had any guidance. I feel like getting all of the kids products in her is tough… is there one over another I should focus the most attention on?
Ps I have absolutely loved Amares products for the past 5 years so thank you ?

    • Hi Tracy – so sorry to hear about Presley’s setbacks – but to answer your main question – I think that Kids Fundamentals is probably the most important one for you to focus on with her because it will help with gut issues as well as immune system support and mental wellness benefits. Hope that helps and good luck!
